My Real Estate 'Home-Ownership' Journey: My story
When I was first married, I had no idea how to buy a home. Even though I was making enough money to make it possible, homeownership felt completely out of reach. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I was told — by people I trusted — that buying a home required huge sums of money, a massive down payment, and a lot of risk.
Shortly after getting married, we had one child, and then another. We were renting, and I thought that was just “good enough.” How was I supposed to save 20% of a home’s purchase price? My family was renting. My friends hadn’t bought homes. School never taught me anything about buying or owning real estate. I had nowhere to go for real guidance — only warnings to be careful and not get taken advantage of. Those warnings came from good intentions, but not from facts.
So over time, owning a home became less and less of a priority. I stopped thinking about it altogether and focused on working and taking care of my family.
It took 13 years, a company bonus, and having my taxes prepared for me to finally learn the truth.
There’s more to that story, but the short version is this: not knowing how to buy a home is exactly what led me into the real estate industry years later, and why I created the ‘Pathway to Qualification’ program. (And no — it’s not just for first-time buyers.) Our program focuses on you, and exactly where you are right now — not where you think you are — and gives you a clear, step-by-step, personalized plan to get you where you want to be. No guesswork. No overwhelm. Just realistic actions that move you forward.
If any of this resonates, you’re welcome to simply reply with a question, explore the resources on my website, or—if it feels right—schedule a quick, no-pressure conversation. Even a short chat can help clarify what your next small step might be.
I’d love to be a part of your real estate journey—wherever you are today, and wherever you’re headed next.
